How much does it cost
to develop an app?

A custom app for iOS and Android starts at around €8,000. The price depends on features, the backend that manages data and users, integrations and content, and you should also plan for maintenance after publishing on the stores.

In short

How much does it cost to develop an app? From around €8,000 for a custom iOS and Android app.

That is the base for a native or cross-platform app with a few screens, content managed from a dashboard and publishing on the App Store and Google Play.

The cost grows with sign-up and user profiles, push notifications, in-app payments, offline features, geolocation, augmented reality and, above all, integrations with existing systems such as management software, CRM or IoT devices.

How much it costs to develop an app therefore depends on what it has to do and what it has to talk to: that is why we always start from a list of features and a prototype.

Before developing, it is worth asking whether you really need an app or whether a web app, which runs in the browser and costs less, is enough: we will tell you honestly.

What it depends on

How much does it cost to develop an app:
what drives the price.

01

Features and screens

Each screen has to be designed, developed and tested on several devices. The number of features is the first cost driver.

02

Backend and dashboard

Users, content, orders and statistics live on a server with a dashboard to manage them: it has to be designed and maintained.

03

Integrations

Connecting the app to management software, CRM, payments, maps or sensors needs dedicated analysis and development.

04

Offline, maps and augmented reality

Working without a connection, showing routes or AR content adds technical complexity and field testing.

05

Design and content

Custom interface, copy, audio in several languages, photos and videos: if we produce them they are in the quote.

06

Publishing and maintenance

Developer accounts, store review and updates for new iOS and Android versions are costs to plan every year.

What is included

How much does it cost to develop an app with us? The price covers the whole path to the stores.

Feature analysis, clickable prototype, interface design, iOS and Android development, content dashboard, testing on real devices, publishing on the App Store and Google Play, and training.

We have built museum audio guides, local-area apps, augmented and virtual reality apps and apps for sales agents and technicians: see Websites, E-commerce & Apps and Culture, Museums & Heritage.

After publishing

An app needs to be updated every year, even if nothing changes.

Apple and Google release new operating system versions and change store requirements, such as the App Store Review Guidelines: without updates an app can stop working or be removed. On top of that come servers, developer accounts and support.

That is why our quotes always show the yearly maintenance cost as well.

Funding

Apps for museums, tourism and businesses often qualify for grants.

Many of our projects for cultural organisations and local areas were funded through public calls. We help you find out whether a suitable call exists: see Grants and incentives.

Every year you need to budget for updates for new iOS and Android versions, servers, developer accounts and support. We always include it in the quote.
